Cannabis laws

Compassionate Use Act/Prop. 215 (1996)

Senate Bill 420 (2003)

California Attorney General’s medical marijuana guidelines (2008)

California NORML Prop. 215 patient guidelines

Senate Bill 1449 (2010)
Reduces possession of less than one ounce of marijuana from a misdemeanor to an infraction punishable by a fine of not more than $100. It eliminates jail bookings and referral for education, treatment or rehabilitation.

Note: SB 1449 does not change state law regarding marijuana concentrates such as hash or kief. Simple possession (without a Prop. 215 recommendation) can still get you up to a year in jail and/or a $500 fine.

Assembly Bill 1300 (2011) prohibits dispensaries within 600 feet of schools.
